Pfronten is an ideal starting point for hikes and bike tours. Meadows, rivers, idyllic lakes and the beautiful mountains can be accessed through an extensive network of hiking and cycling trails and invite you to outside sports activities. Everyone will find something suitable for them here, whether they are leisurely walkers in the flat valley and on the many mountain pastures, or ambitious climbers, paragliders or mountain bikers. In spring and summer, the Pfronten valley is a natural paradise. The views of the foothills of the Alps are breathtaking. But a stay in autumn is also tempting. Surrounded by colourful trees, hiking and biking become a great experience. In winter, Pfronten has numerous offers for winter sports in the Allgäu Alps. Skiing, cross-country skiing, tobogganing or snow hiking – the snowsure family ski resort in Steinach and the ski resort on the Breitenberg offer all kinds of winter sports.

The 13 districts of Pfronten offer a gastronomic variety of restaurants, inns and mountain huts. The wide spectrum ranges from rustic traditional restaurants with cosy beer gardens to exquisite award-winning cuisine. Each district has its own charm: Kappel, with the old village church as a landmark, is the starting point for hikes on the Edelsberg. The idyllic Rehbichl has retained its village and rural character. Kreuzegg is the ideal starting point for hiking and cycling tours in the foothills of the Alps. With a fantastic view of the Allgäu Alps, Weissbach forms the junction between Kempten, Füssen and Reutte. Even King Ludwig II was enchanted by this landscape and built his world-famous fairytale castles here which characterize the landscape of the region alongside a large number of castle ruins. Hikes into the Vilstal begin in the districts of Röfleuten and Halden. In Berg – charmingly located on a hill – the church of St. Nicholas is located, the landmark of Pfronten. Ried, with its town hall, Haus des Gastes, many bars and shops, train station, police station and hospital, is considered the heart of Pfronten. Heitlern is lively and sporty, with an ice rink, tennis courts, spa gardens and Kneipp facilities. In the proximity to the castle ruins of Falkenstein, Meilingen is known as the sunniest location, attracting water lovers with the Alpenbad – a beautiful outdoor poll . Nomen est omen in the district Dorf (village), which is characterized by numerous traditional buildings and its village character. Its favorable location in the south of Pfronten makes Ösch the ideal starting point for activities. And Steinach, the district in which our holiday apartment is located at the foot of the Breitenberg, in the very south and just before Austria, attracts athletes in both summer and winter.

In the family ski resort in Pfronten, fun in the snow comes first! Various drag lifts, the latest snow-making technology, a snow park and slopes for beginners to professionals offer ideal conditions for the whole family. The ski school for beginners, returnees and children is located directly at the ski center.

Ski resort Breitenberg

The Breitenberg/Hochalpe ski resort near Pfronten can be easily accessed with the Breitenbergbahn. A modern four-seater chairlift, two drag lifts and two mini lifts await at the top in the largest and snowiest ski area in the Eastern Allgäu. The slopes for skiing and snowboarding are varied. Highlights are the six kilometre descent to the valley station of the Breitenbergbahn and the Funpark. There is also a nice alternative to skiing in the Breitenberg/Hochalpe winter sports area: the 6.5 km long Ostlerforstweg, the longest natural toboggan run in the Allgäu. You can hire the fitting toboggan at the Breitenbergbahn valley station.
